Dr A K Bhattacharya, M. Tech. (IIT, Kharagpur), Ph. D. (McGill University, Canada), Recipient of Shankar Memorial Award and Fellow of Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers and National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, is an eminent scientist, academician and researcher of international repute. He joined Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in 1969 and retired from his services in 2006 as Principal Scientist. Further, he served as an Emeritus Scientist in the same institute for two years. He has also been a faculty for post-graduate courses throughout his tenure at Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), besides guiding a large number of M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. He has over 60 research publications in national and international journals to his credit and has authored/co-authored books and bulletins on hydrology and water recourses. He has also been a member of various Expert Committees of ICAR, IARI, Bureau of Indian Standards and the Ministry of Environment and Forests.
